She abandons herself to the

welcome presence of the gaze

from above, light skin broken by black

on purple

leather,

leopard

-spotted

on black

cushions

and framing

whorls,

she sees herself along the cracked wall

  of the past,

or possibly she

remembers

summer’s

innocence, herself

dressed

in flowers

 among leafy

reflections

that bring

her back to

encounters

and expectations, sweet ondulations

following currents on the bottoms of  

boats stolen for a day or a night and

 launched

toward a

discovery

that is

always

a light at the end of darkness, a return

to a state of nature, to the joy of clear water on one’s body.
